Kildare County Council has officially opened applications for the Heritage Grant Scheme 2025, offering grants of up to €1,500 to support local heritage projects across Kildare.
The scheme aims to promote heritage conservation, research, and community engagement, with funding available for heritage data collection, site management, and public awareness initiatives. Local community groups and organisations are encouraged to apply before the deadline of Friday, 14th March 2025 at 4:00 PM.
What Projects Are Eligible?
The grant scheme will fund projects related to heritage conservation, research, and awareness, in line with the Heritage Act, 1995.
✅ Heritage Data Collection
- Archaeological and wildlife surveys
- Conservation reports for historical structures or artefacts
- Research on the conservation needs of specific objects or collections
✅ Heritage Management
- Conservation work for heritage buildings, sites, and collections
- Wildlife habitat restoration and invasive species control
- Implementing recommendations from past conservation reports
✅ Raising Heritage Awareness
- Heritage Week 2025 and Biodiversity Week 2025 events
- Public seminars, exhibitions, and educational workshops
- Community-led storytelling, art, and media projects celebrating local heritage
📌 Note: Heritage publications are not eligible for funding.
Who Can Apply?
The scheme is open to community groups and organisations based in County Kildare. Each group is allowed to submit one application and must be registered with the Kildare Public Participation Network (PPN).
Applicants will be assessed based on:
🔹 The impact on local heritage and communities
🔹 Innovative and creative approaches to heritage engagement
🔹 The ability of the group to complete the proposed project
🔹 Local contributions and first-time applicants will be prioritised
Successful projects must be completed within 2025, and recipients must showcase their project during Heritage Week or Biodiversity Week.
How to Apply
📅 Deadline: Friday, 14th March 2025 at 4:00 PM
📍 Where to Apply: Submit applications to the Heritage Officer, Planning Department, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare.
Applicants must provide:
✔️ A fully completed Community Heritage Grant Application Form
✔️ Bank details for grant payment
✔️ An outline of the proposed project and its expected impact
📢 An interim report must be submitted by 25th July 2025, or funding may be reallocated. A final report with receipts must be submitted by 7th November 2025.
